Snow-shoe tours in the Hohe Tauern ski region

Enjoy a leisurely walk, without any stress, minus the hectic pace and adrenaline rush. While others head up the mountain by ski lift, or audaciously swing down into the valley via the freeride routes, you just head out and enjoy the tranquillity and romance of the deeply snow-covered winter landscape during a winter hike. On a snow-shoe or winter hiking tour you dive deep into the natural surroundings and head out in the tracks of the animals in their natural habitats.

In the expanse of the natural surroundings

With or without snow shoes; you decide. On cleared winter hiking trails and walkways head through a fantastic natural landscape to cosy Alpine inns. Anyone who puts on their ski shoes is preparing themselves for a very special experience in nature. With your snow shoes you can also make inroads into the breath-taking natural surroundings in the wintry Hohe Tauern. Join a ranger and head out with them to see ibex and feed the red deer – an experience that is beyond compare and one you will never forget.

The right tour for everyone

A summit tour to the Schareck is easy and short when you start out “right at the top”. Take the cable car to the summit of the Schareck and look forward to a fantastic view.
The tour to the Apriacher Almen close to Heiligenblut takes about 4 hours, but you will be rewarded with a dreamy natural setting.
Lovely tours await in Mallnitz too. The winter hiking trail in Seebachtal is easy to negotiate, and you will need around 3 hours for the tour. The winter hiking trail into Tauerntal is recommended too, which, at 6.1 km in length is shorter, but no less exciting.

Guided – with a lot of know-how

If you want to penetrate deep into the natural environment and still want to learn a lot about the Hohe Tauern and the winter flora and fauna, then join a guided snowshoe tour with a ranger.

The snowshoe trekking tour to the Seebach Valley in Mallnitz takes place every Monday in winter and is equally popular with adults and children.
Snowshoe trekking to the ibex in Heiligenblut takes our ranger into the world of majestic wildlife. If you are lucky, you can watch them on their rocks and stones during their acrobatic jumps.
